Newcastle is home to the head office of The Home Engineers, with a team that collectively oversees and supports all of our other offices throughout the UK. All administration is carried out at the Newcastle office, as well as providing Civil & Structural engineering design solutions to the North East.
Our structural engineering services in Newcastle includes house alterations such as extensions, loft conversions and structural ‘knock throughs’. We also provide Civil and Structural Engineering design services for commercial projects, new build housing developments, bespoke new build dwellings and barn conversions.

About Our Structural Engineer in Newcastle
Shaun Todhunter oversees the day to day running of the office with the support of Craig Higgins and Kris Haigh; between them they have built up the business to what it is today.
Shaun is an experienced and competent engineer with a proven track record of working with a multi-disciplinary design team. He has over 13 years’ experience working in the Civil & Structural Engineering industry, as well as 1 year experience working in the Oil & Gas industry.
Shaun has had exposure to a wide range of construction projects throughout the UK. He has been responsible for managing and delivering a number of Civil & Structural design solutions for projects such as: new build housing developments, bespoke dwellings and extensions, industrial units, student accommodations, refurbishments of listed buildings and brownfield offshore oil rig alterations.
Shaun started his career in the construction and engineering industry working as an apprentice fabricator. During this period Shaun attended college where he achieved an ONC in Engineering. Following completion of this Shaun opted to change direction of his future and became a Civil & Structural Engineering Technician. During this time he gained experience of working on domestic and commercial construction projects throughout the UK. Shaun attended university on a part time basis and achieved a First Class Honours degree in Civil Engineering. Shaun then progressed to a Structural Engineer where his role included detailed structural design, development of structural drawings and liaising with industry professionals to enable efficient delivery of projects.
Before starting up The Home Engineers, Shaun had a year working in the Oil & Gas industry where he was responsible for the production of structural designs for offshore projects. Shaun’s broad experience positions him well to deliver any project The Home Engineers may come across.
