We provided the structural design for 2 new bespoke dwellings in Morgan Porth, Newquay.
Due to the geometry of the proposed structures we provided a steel frame solution with masonry infill.
The site was challenging due to the existing and proposed levels, therefore, we needed to design appropriate retaining structures to achieve the Architect’s desired layouts.
We worked closely with the Architect and Client to co-ordinate our structural designs, as well as supporting the Contractor throughout the construction phases.

Project Challenges and Solutions
The complex geometry of the dwellings meant a conventional structural approach would not suffice, and the steeply sloping site introduced further challenges due to varying levels.
To address this, we developed a steel frame solution with masonry infill, giving the structures both strength and flexibility to achieve the desired layouts.
Retaining structures were designed to stabilise the site and manage the changes in level, ensuring long-term performance.
We worked closely with the architect and client to coordinate our designs, while also supporting the contractor throughout construction to make sure the structural elements were delivered safely and efficiently.
