We needed some structural calculations for our rear extension and they not only provided that in record time, but also provided some great suggestions for us to take into consideration. Definitely working with them again.
Very happy with the professional and efficient service. I highly recommend!
We used the Home Engineers London to do the structural drawings & calculations for our latest new-build project in Walton-on-Thames. We found them prompt, courteous and they went out of their way to answer our numerous questions before & after. All this for the best price we received by far. Big shout to Flavio, the engineer we dealt with. We will not hesitate to use them again!
About Our Structural Engineer in London
The Home Engineers (London) is based in Staines London and is managed by Flavio Alushi.
Flavio is a chartered structural engineer with a proven track record of ensuring that structures are safe and complaint with codes. He is familiar with the construction process and capable of advising clients regarding proposed layout and materials.
Additionally, he has experience in providing services for all residential building projects, from small refurbishments to new builds and adept in communicating recommendations and concerns clearly and effectively. He is committed to identifying issues and achieving solutions to increase safety, functionality, and aesthetics.
Flavio graduated from University of Tirana, Albania, in 2016 with a MSc in Structural Engineering. In 2019, Flavio moved to London and started work as a structural engineer in a Civil & Structural Consultancy in South London dealing with residential projects.
He gained valuable experience working on domestic projects throughout the Southeast, where he was responsible for detailed design work, developing structural drawings, and collaborating with industry professionals to ensure project efficiency.
In 2021, Flavio took on a new role as a lead structural engineer, where he oversaw a team of structural engineers and checked their work before issuing it to clients. This role also required Flavio to conduct site visits and liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to discuss the scope and requirements of the project to design and specify the structural elements of the building, including foundations, steel beams, walls, floors, and roofs.
Currently, Flavio is running THE London office of his consultancy firm. With his extensive experience in the industry, he provides safe and high-quality services to clients throughout London.
He brings a wealth of knowledge to his consultancy work, and ensures that his team delivers projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standard possible. Take a look at his previous work on the Sultan House project. When Flavio isn’t at work, he loves outdoor team sports, indoor swimming, fishing and strategy games such as chess!
If an architect or designer has provided clear plans, simple alterations can often be undertaken without a site visit saving you money.
If plans are not provided or if the design is complex, a site visit is usually recommended although this is project dependent.
If you are carrying out a home extension, loft conversion or are removing walls from your home, the chances are that you will require a structural engineer. Works such as these require you to notify your local building control team who may require structural calculations before works can be signed off.
The architect or surveyor normally draws up the plans. Where an architect or surveyor is unable to draw up the plans or full plans are not required, we can undertake a measured survey sufficient to carry out the structural design.
Following receipt of all the relevant information, we typically aim to turn around works within 1-2 weeks. However, this is very dependent on how busy we are and the size of the project. Smaller jobs, even with a site visit can often be completed in a week or less.
Providing a set cost for a beam design can be difficult. A steel beam design often involves additional checks to the masonry bearings, wall panels and foundations. Therefore, each project is priced specifically to suit project requirements.
Often, a building inspector or other professional may use complicated terms to describe a structural defect meaning it is difficult to clearly relay that information over the phone or via email. In these cases, we would recommend that a site visit be undertaken for a small fee to review the defect and discuss the best way to resolve the issue.
Please contact us and we will see what we can do. Even whilst busy, we try to allocate time to administrative works, training, and CPD. If required, we may be able to allocate some of this time to your project.
We regularly undertake structural surveys in response to a property valuation survey. Our inspections are undertaken by an experienced structural engineer and all reports that are to be submitted to a bank or building society are reviewed and signed off by our Chartered Structural Engineer.
We typically work with a wide range of clients from domestic clients, builders, developers, architects and surveyors.
